Sunflower Writing

With our Sunflower art we did a short piece of writing here (below) is my work . . .

A row of shining stars,

Aline like consolations high in the sky,
While down on Earth in the hot dry African desert,
Lions manes lying in a garden bed.

Have you ever written a poem about a flower???

Sunny, Sunflowers!

Mrs Fisher, a teacher at my school who teaches year 1's & 2's planted some Sunflower seeds around our school with her class. Over the past couple of weeks they have bloomed into bright yellow healthy flowers. Mrs Bennett, my teacher took my class out to take pictures, pencil sketches and write down ideas and details about them. After we had done the planning we came back to our classroom and painted them, for my sunflower it took a couple of coats of paint to get the perfect brightness of yellow. After we had painted them I added some details with pastel. We got the option of using dye, watercolour or paint for our background, I chose to paint my background with dye. Here (above) is my work. We also did a small piece of writing with our art which I will be creating another blog post about.

Whanau Art

In class we made Whanau Art. We started with a white blank piece of paper and drew Koru's (a Maori Carving) to represent a family member. I chose to draw my Grandpa, Nan, Dad, Mum,
My brother and I. After we had finished drawing with chalk we filled in the background and Koru's will pastel (NOT going over the chalk or leaving any white spaces). We them grabbed some black dye and a paint brush and went over the whole drawing and . . . Ta Da our final project!!!!
What do you think? Have you ever tried this or another Technic??

Introducing Me!

Kia Ora,

My name is Hayley and I am a year 7 at Matawai School. I live with my family of 4 on a small farm or lifestyle block with many animals and a huge garden. My family is originally from Victoria, Australia. My grandparents live near by and I spend a lot of time with them too.

In school I like to silently read and write poems. My favourite authors are Roald Dahl, David William or Micheal Morpurgo. I also really like sports and running. I hope to get better at math this year. I like to sing and play the Ukulele.

Some of my hobbies are . . . art, photography, looking after animals and little kids. In the future I would like to become a paramedic or an event/professional  photographer. I am looking forward to the year 2020!

I hope you enjoy reading my future blog posts,
