String Games!

Today I completed the 'string games' activity from the Summer Learning Journey page. This blog post was super fun to do! This blog post is quite short, but their really isn't a lot to it. All we had to make was a cup and saucer, I remember making one of these when I was younger, and it was relatively easy, anyways without any further to do, here is my cup and saucer...

There is a 'Step It Up' task coming soon!

Outside Games, Inside Games, Games Are Lots Of FUN!

The Summer Learning Journey has challenged me to list my favourite games and how to play them. I choose 2 games that I play with my friends and family a lot, they are called 'Game Of LIFE' and 'Park 'n' Shop'. Have you ever heard of these games??? Here is how you play them  . . . I was lucky enough to get the 'newest' version of the game LIFE for Christmas from my parents. I have added some videos (below) to explain about the game . . .

Park 'n' Shop is a multi player shopping game where players select the same number of shop cards, the more you select the longer the game, you then drive your car to the parking lot and walk to the shop. The aim is to be the first one to complete all your shopping and get home again. Along the journey you will receive pedestrian and motorist cards when you land on selected squares, these cards usually add another shop to your list, send you to jail or the movies. What are your favourite games to play???

If I Was Garry Kasparov

Garry Kasparov is the best chess player in the world! If I was him three pro (advantages) would be....
Everyone would be looking up to you,  you are in newspapers, books and on TV etc and if you liked winning a lot you would win many games. Three cons (disadvantages) would be.... people would be really jealous and possibly do really mean things to you, people could find images of you on the internet and comment mean comments about you and say if there was a poster of you in town saying come and watch my chess game or something like that people could graffiti all over it. So, in away i'll just try to stay who I am and not be world famous.

Athletics Day

Every year our school has an athletics day. I like participating in athletics because I like all of the categorises, I am not a very big fan of discus and shot put though. I really enjoy long jump, high jump and running. We do lots of events every year, which I try to blog about. We do many activities on athletics day like long jump, high jump, discus, shot put, sprints and running.

We were put into our age groups first, then we are taken off in our age groups to do different activities in a rotation. The 11 year old's (my group & I) were taken to sprints first, we lined up, Mr Knight said "take your marks, get set... GO!!" I ran all the way to the line at the end, I almost over took Liana but, she just bet me! We then moved on to high jump, the highest I could jump was 105cm (which is still pretty high!) Our next rotation took us to shot put then we moved on to ... Long jump, in long jump I jumped 3m something and I almost hit the wood at the end! We ran out of time on Tuesday so we didn't finish our last rotation but, we finished that the next day on Wednesday. Our last rotation was discus (the one I dread the most!)

I came 2nd in the sprints, 2nd in the 2 lap run and 2nd in the 3 lap run, 2nd in high jump, 1st or 2nd in shot put, 1st or 2nd in long jump and 3rd in discus. I had a super fun day, I can't wait for next years athletics day!!! My Dad took some pictures of me (Below)

Toilet & King

Every Wednesday, Graham from Poverty Bay Cricket Association comes to our school to teach us cricket skills. He teaches us games, throwing, bowling & batting lessons and great techniques. One of my favourite games was the Toilet & King. In the set of slides above I had showed a set of instructions and created an animation demonstrating how you play.

Here is my class playing cricket with Graham,
