Woodwork Tech
This week we finished creating our stools with Peter Roberts (our woodwork teacher) Today we finished adding in some small cuts of wooden dowel and staining the wood. We had 9 weeks to start and finish the stool. Each stool stands at around 25.5cm deep by 30cm wide. It has been a big learning curve because each year we have a rotation and we learn something different and create something new so we learnt some different skills. So making a stool was a little more complicated then making a paper weight (what we made last year). The skills we practised or used to make our stool were... Sawing, sanding, staining the wood, glued, measured and drilling. My main highlights were challenging myself and getting to use the stool knowing that we made them. Overall, I had a great time working in the woodwork room and I am sure the other year 7's did too! Next term we are rotating to Cooking with Mrs Bennett.

The Funnest Tech Yet!!!!
Today our Tech teacher was away sick, meaning that we couldn't go to woodwork. So our Principal, Mr Knight took us for the 1 and a half hours that we would have been spending doing woodwork. We did Robotics and had to create a remote control robot that could move around and play a soccer game against the other robot. Our main focus was making a base for our robots and assembling the battery packs to wheels and gears and team work. We had 2 teams going against each other. Maranga, Duncan and Jaimee, against Rylee and I. We didn't quite finish our master pieces however we will be carrying on with them later. Here is the robot Rylee and I created ...

Fast Food Invention Test
Yesterday Mrs Bennett gave us another invention test which is often seen on the TV show 'Master Chef'. You get given ingredients to cook with and have to make a dish out of it. But, this time it was a little different and instead of getting given ingredients we had to make our own Fast Food with any ingredients. Of course none of us are professionals and we don't make 5 star meals in restaurants so we aren't the best chefs. Anyway here is my Fast Food...

Sizzle, Pop, Crackle Cooking!
Every Wednesday in the afternoons our class goes to either cooking, sewing or woodwork TECH. We rotate to a different TECH each term, this term I was in cooking with the other year 6's in my class along with with my teacher . . . Mrs Bennett! This term, we have so far created . . . Cinnamon scrolls, sausage rolls, pizza, Louise slice, Winter pesto tomato sauce pasta, Crunchy Lemon muffins, Double chocolate muffins, banana chocolate chip muffins, Potatoe curry with chapatis, corn and bacon fritters and bread-based pies, Banana Choc-chip pancakes and Nachos. I find it interesting and fun learning new skills like knife skills/cutting skills, baking, pancake-flipping skills ovens skills and using the elements . . . I find that the recipes are sometimes really different from what we cook at home as a family. Here are some videos and photo's of me at TECH!

Pancake-Flipping
At sewing TECH with Anne Tohill, we had to pass our sewing licence along with making a stuffed toy the girls made bunnies and the boys made monkeys. I made a pink bunny with white and gold spots! It's so cute. When we go back to sewing next term we will be finishing off our moccasins. Here is a picture of my bunny and I . . .
I hope you enjoyed reading my latest blog post!
