All About Me!

 

Kia ora, my name is Hayley, I’m a year 8 attending Matawai School. I live an hour out of Gisborne, with my family of four on a small farm or lifestyle block with many animals and a humongous garden! My family and I are from Australia and moved here in 2016. This year I'm looking forward to the Snr bike ride/camp and another camp later in the year.

At School, I love all subjects, but I find Math the most challenging of them all. One of my biggest goals for this year would be to keep trying my best and progressing in all subjects for high school next year. Some of my favourite things to do in spare time are to spend time with family, friends and animals, along with drawing, playing sports, doing photography, playing the ukulele, writing, silent reading, looking after the environment, driving motorbikes and racing my Go-Kart. My favourite author currently is Justin D’ath and his book 47 Degrees which is based on a true story in Australia about the bush fires not far from where I used to live. That is just one of many books and I'm sure I will find many other favourites throughout the year!

In the future, I’d love to have a job in the medical field and be a paramedic, vet/doctor, police officer or firefighter and if those plans don't work I’d love to travel the world visiting a wide variety of countries and trying new things and cuisine along with inspiring and spreading awareness along the way. Otherwise I'll try to become a professional driver and race F1 cars, motorcross or karting. I’m looking forward to finishing my last year positively and seeing what 2021 brings, I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts! Mā te Wā

Elecatcowpigyakfly

Today's 'Handy Hints with Hayley' features the 'Elecatcowpigyakfly' a mysterious creature I made. Recently Mrs Bennett went to a teacher workshop and she learnt how to make a mysterious creature using Google Drawings and using the explore tool, rotating shapes and cropping images. Using the skills she learnt she brought them back into the class and we made our own mysterious creatures...

Brand Video Making

Recently with Mrs Torrie, our cyber smart teacher. We created a Brand Video. We could make the video about something we would advertise or make something just to put on the start of each blog post (which I will be doing). I decided to make mine for my blog, so every time I post a new blog post I will put on the video. I decided to call mine 'Handy Hints with Hayley' We used WeVideo to create our videos. I will be posting another blog explaining how to make the video (which is quite complicated)

Soundtrap

Last week our Cyber smart teacher Mrs Torrie introduced to us a new music website where we can create music. This website is called 'Soundtrap'. With our music we had to make the mood of the music like our picture. It was more more complicated than the past music websites I had used in the past. We had to choose our picture (I choose a cheetah) then we had to create the music on Soundtrap. After we had created our music we had to download the music into our drive and onto a slide with the image.
Even though I found this website a little hard to use I highly recommend it. If found that finding the music and sounds was hard however I shortly git the hang of it and I eventually came up with...

Image Attribution

Today I was learning how to find an image attribution and how to find information and facts.
I enjoyed learning more about Lorde and creating a poster about her.
I found it challenging to create the facts in my own words with some sentences.
My digital learning object shows that I understand how to find facts, create a poster and find an image attribution.
Next time I would change the layout of my poster and I would also change the facts and images.

Year 6 Movie

Today I was learning how to create a movie with pictures, music, speech and text. I also learnt how export our movies.
I enjoyed creating my movie and looking back at pictures from earlier this year.
I found it challenging to put the add-on's like music, speech and text.
My digital learning object shows that I know how to create and export a movie.
Next time I would change the pictures and music.

MoneyTime

My teacher, Mrs Bennett found a really cool website called MoneyTime. This website allows you to earn (fake) money by completing modules. Each module has been focused around... career choice, earning money & jobs. I so far have ... $17,653 altogether, but am still busily earning money. In my savings account, I have ... $6,853 and I have donated $1000.
