After we read the story we had to write a book report on the novel. To publish/create my book report I used Google Drawings. When I had finished typing the blurb I took photos of my drawings in my reading book, removed the background and added them on the side. Here is my book review... Would you read Pax??
Kia ora, I am a year 8 student in Room 4 at Matawai School in Gisborne, New Zealand and my teachers are Mrs Bennett and Mrs Allan.

Would you read Pax?
Recently our class finished reading our class novel Pax. While reading this book, we were asked to share our thinking and predictions about what we think is going to happen in the book. One of our tasks was to draw each character in our reading books (Pax the fox and Peter the boy) With one character per page, then rule the page in half and on one side write what we know about the character and on the other our predictions and what we don't know about them. We also had to visualise and use our imagination as there were no pictures of the characters in the book for us to use and copy while drawing them.

Suez Canal (group reading work)
Today in class for reading and word study, our reading group (the Itlots, the name created by 2 words (it and lots) found in a book and combined together) Mrs Bennett introduced a new reading topic... the Suez Canal! After a bit of reading and researching we were asked to make a slideshow to display work, then share our work onto our blogs. Here is our presentation...

False Teeth Over Board!
Recently, the Summer Learning Journey featured the task of creating our own comic pages. Firstly, we watched a short film called Teeth, from there we had to create a comic page and fill in text boxes from scenes in the clip. We were provided a free template that we could make our comic page on, or had the option to make our own from scratch our use a comic making platform (website). Without further to do, here is my comic...
I had fun creating this, and I hope you like it! I can't wait for the next SLJ task!

Earths Structure
For the past couple of days our learning has been focused around Volcanoes, Mountains and the Earths structure. Learning about the earths structure helps with the understanding of how Volcanoes erupt and how mountains form and change shape over time. My reading group were the assigned the task of creating a diagram (on Google Drawings) with the earth's layers and a few sentences explaining a bit about the layers. Here is my diagram of the Earths layers...

A Must Read Book
Today the Summer Learning Journey challenged us to write a book review. I chose a book that I have read quite recently, 'Adventures of the Little Wooden Horse'. Here (below) is my review. . .
Follow the adventures of the little wooden horse as it tries to make money for it's maker but gets lost in the process trying to sell it's self, Escape from angry farmer Max, Goes to sea, Works in a coal mine, Sees the King, Runs a race, Works in a Circus . . . In the end the little wooden horse finds Uncle Pedar and they both live a happy life with a new addition added to them.
I recommend this book if you are looking for a book that moves, you read quite quickly and if you like an Adventurous story.
