Marvelous Movies

The Summer Learning Journey challenged me to imagine that we had the chance to create and design our very own movie. I am not a big fan of movies (because I just simply can't stay still) however movies that I do like are Matilda, Harry Potter . . . Do you like watching movies? What is your favourite movie? Anyway, here is what I would make my movie about . . . 
I would create a wildlife and nature movie, explaining more about endangered and non-endangered animals and nature (trees, plants etc) I would explore all around the world making a movie about different countries and there nature, I could also include cultures and cuisine. What would your movie be about??? 

Heroes!!!

Name : Greta Thunburg
She began her climate change protests by sitting outside parliament every Friday inspiring other children to join her and do the same outside there parliament and make politicians take notice and do something about it.
Has helped people sit up and realise that you can make a difference and have you're voice heard even on a global scale.  Her journey has only really started and hopefully her work will force governments around the world to start changing policies to reduce fossil fuel emissions and help the world.

If I hadn't of chosen her I would have chosen someone like Sea Sheppard started by Paul Watson (one of the founders) who helped stop/reduce whale killing and hunting.

Indigenous Community's

The Summer Learning Journey programme challenged me to choose two fascinating groups out of the five listed as . . .
-Ainu People
-Australian Aboriginal People
-The Inuit People
-Papuan People
-The Maya People 
After we chose our groups we had to do read a little bit about them on some websites and then come back to our blog and list a 2 facts from each group.
I choose the Australian Aboriginal People and the Maya People here are some facts . . . 
Australian Aboriginal People :
Aboriginal Australians could be the oldest population of humans living outside of Africa, where one theory says they migrated from in boats 70,000 years ago.
Today, there are 250 distinct language groups spread throughout Australia
Maya People :
Maya people speak over 30 million languages 
Despite differences words like sun, time, mother, house and corn are almost identical to the ear.

2 'Did you know' facts 

1. Did you know that . . . After her famous act, Parks lost her job and endured death threats for years to come.

2. Did you know that . . . Upon Parks' death in 2005, she became the first woman to lie in honor at the Capitol Rotunda.

Rosa Parks stood up for equal rights in the 1960's in America by not giving up her bus seat for a white person, which in her day was a big no, no because she would be arrested and beaten by the police. 

Our school takes part in a speech competition and for the 2019 speech we had a theme of making it about 'Courage and Bravery'. After we write our speeches we choose if we would like to go a step further and present our speech to teachers at our school then if we are chosen from our age group we go to town and present our speech again to 'real' judges and get prises. Last year I choose to go that step further and present my speech to judges. Have you ever written a speech and what was the topic about???

I think that she was really brave!!! Do you???
