Summer Symmetry

Today's task for the SLJ was all about Symmetry, Summer symmetry. For this task I started by completing the Kick start activities, which were to watch and sing a quick song about two kids at the fair explaining symmetry. Then from there, we had to read an article about finding symmetry in nature and finally play a quick game called Seafloor Symmetry. I found the game pretty easy!

Finally, we were asked to take 4 photos of symmetrical objects, from there we had to draw a symmetrical line across every object. Anyways, here is my four objects with symmetrical lines...

I hope you enjoyed my blog post and look forward to more!!

YOUR Comments Count!

Today marks the start of the Summer Learning Journey for 2020-2021. To begin, I decided to complete one of the activities for week 1, 'Your Comments Count'. We started off by carefully choosing another students blog post, I chose a blog post written by Tumanaako @ Glen Innes school as I saw that they had made a catapult. I chose this blog post, not only because it sounded interesting, but I have created a catapult using marshmallows and skewers and wanted to see how they had created theirs.

This is my comment to Tumanaako...

Today from this task I learnt to include more, positivity, thoughtfulness and helpfulness. Along with double checking my work, making a connection if possible, including a greeting, sharing experiences/facts and information, and adding more punctuation. I can't wait to complete another SLJ task!

Brand Video Making

Recently with Mrs Torrie, our cyber smart teacher. We created a Brand Video. We could make the video about something we would advertise or make something just to put on the start of each blog post (which I will be doing). I decided to make mine for my blog, so every time I post a new blog post I will put on the video. I decided to call mine 'Handy Hints with Hayley' We used WeVideo to create our videos. I will be posting another blog explaining how to make the video (which is quite complicated)
Here is my video I created...

Earths Structure

For the past couple of days our learning has been focused around Volcanoes, Mountains and the Earths structure. Learning about the earths structure helps with the understanding of how Volcanoes erupt and how mountains form and change shape over time. My reading group were the assigned the task of creating a diagram (on Google Drawings) with the earth's layers and a few sentences explaining a bit about the layers. Here is my diagram of the Earths layers...

How Yeast Works...

Today with our cyber smart teacher, Mrs Torrie, we learnt how to make a GIF using Google Slides and Tall Tweets. I didn't really find any of it hard, but I did have a lot of fun making and creating the GIF.

We got the idea from a science experiment we recently did in class. The experiment was about yeast, we got 4 bottles, 4 sachets of yeast, hot water, cold water, sugar and 4 balloons. We made a bottle of cold water at 18 degrees, a tepid bottle of water at 32 degrees, a very warm bottle of water at 39 degrees and a really hot bottle of water at 51 degrees.

We then added the sugar and yeast to each bottle and added a balloon on top then we left the experiment to see which bottle would produce the most gas. It turned out that the 39 degrees bottle worked the best and produced the most gas. So, that's is how we got the idea. We also used this GIF idea to show how good our understanding of yeast was. Here is my GIF...

My Blog Statistics ...

Today, we had our cyber smart teacher, Mrs Torrie. She thought us how to create a graph with the number of blog posts over 2 years. Here is my blog post statistics...
Here is the amount of blog posts my class and I have done over 2 years... If your wondering why I have so many, it's because I did a total of 88 blog posts in the Summer Learning Journey. Here is the graph...

I can also see in the graph below that...
Hohepa & Sophia had done the same amount of blog in 2019,
Ariki, Maranga & Violet have done the same amount of blog posts in 2019,
Hohepa, Duncan, Blake, John, Iris & Blair have done the same amount of blogs post so far this year.
