Planning A Trip To????

Today I've been learning about New Zealand and globally famous olympic shot putter, Dme Valerie Adams. She definitely sounds like a legend and a strong olympian! So what I had to do was create a brochure for her. Have you or one of your family members been to Tonga??? If you haven't would you consider going there in the future??? Here is my brochure (below)

  2. Tēnā koe Hayley,

Your brochure makes me want to go and visit Tonga, it sounds like such a nice place and would be great for a holiday!
Wow, 170 islands is a lot, do you think that people live on all of them or are some uninhabited (not lived on)?

I noticed that you wrote down that their was whale watching in Tonga. If I ever visit Tonga, that will be the first thing I do! Whales are very cool animals. What is the first thing you would do if you went to Tonga?

No one in my family has visited Tonga, but we have visited other countries! My favourite countries that I have visited are Vietnam, because there was so much new culture to learn about and it was beautiful, and also Japan, because there were so many shops!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I am glad that my brochure makes you want to visit Tonga! I know, when I found out that there were 170 Islands, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I think that some Islands are uninhabited because when I was reading some information it not only said that some Islands are uninhabited (which I couldn't fit on to my poster) it also said that there are big limestone rock slopes and cliffs surrounding the Islands so some of them must be too hard for them to get up the cliffs.

The first thing that I would do if I went to Tonga is explore the beaches and go whale watching because I agree whales are such cool creature and maybe while I was going out to see the whale we could see some dolphins swimming beside the boat. I would love to go to many far away countries and explore the world, trying different cuisine and sight seeing!

      Ma Te Wa,
      Bye for now,
      Hayley :)

    2. Kia Ora Hayley,

Very interesting that some of the islands are uninhabited - I wonder if some people in Tonga are thinking of moving to those islands soon - because the main islands must be getting pretty busy!

I noticed that you mentioned you would try some different cuisine if you were to visit Tonga, what types of foods are usually found in the Tongan islands?

    3. Kia Ora Charlotte,
Yes, maybe the locals will get sick of the tourists and decide to pack up and move to another uninhabited Island. I would mostly stick to eating the traditional foods so that I could enhance the true experience. However, in Tonga I would expect meats such as pork, chicken, beef, sheep ribs and fish and other seafood, and then have things like coconut milk, taro leaves and various starches such as yams, taro and sweet potatoes. And maybe some fruits like bananas, coconuts, papaya, mango, pineapple, passion fruit and guava. Is there any specific types of foods you would want to try???
      Thanks for replying back,
      Have a GREAT day,
      Hayley :)
